intensive driving courses

Frequently Asked Questions!

We've done our best to give you all the information we think you'll need in order to book a course with us but just in case here is an FAQ sectionwith our most common questions...

  1. How much do courses cost? We've created a set of courses designed for all abilities. The main ones are the Red Course is for all new drivers and costs £800 for 35 hours of driving lessons. The Amber Course is for those with some experience and costs £600 for 25 hours driving tuition. For those just needing a little help to pass their test the Green Course costs £375 for 15 hours. If you've recently passed our Pass Plus Course costs just £180. (See Full Pricing Structure)
  2. Do LDA courses include the test? No. Simply because we only book students for tests when we know they can pass. The current test costs as set by the DSA are: Theory Test: £28.50. Practical Test: Weekdays £48.50 and Weekends £58.00 Check our Resources Page for relevent links.
  3. Where are you based? The Academy is in Wimbledon which is easy to get to by car, bus, train and tube from just about anywhere in London (See Travel Guide). We have students come to us as it allows them to start getting familiar with the test route from day one - which means they have a much better chance of passing first time.
  4. Which areas do you cover? Our students usually come from these areas of London: Wimbledon, Merton, Richmond, Twickenham, Kingston, Croydon, Wandsworth, Epsom, Putney, Fulham, Hammersmith, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Westminster, Lambeth, West Bromley, Notting hill gate, Bayswater, Waterloo, Edgware Road, Victoria, Ealing, Sutton, Clapham Junction, Earl’s Court and Worcester park. (See Map)
  5. Do I have to have an Assessment Lesson? Yes. Most people would like to have their licence in a week. The reality is, that is simply beyond most people. We all learn to drive at very different rates and so the Start-up Assessment Lesson will tell the instructor a lot about your current driving skill, your ability to retain and apply new information and to recommend a suitable course for your personal timetable. It's also a valuable opportunity for you to try out LDA without having to commit to a complete driving course.
  6. Can I train without having passed the theory test? Yes! As long as you have your provisional licence you can sign up for an assessment lesson today.
  7. How do I book?Simple. Go to the Booking Page and choose either Google Checkout or Paypal. If you choose Google Checkout you need to email us with your phone number so we can arrange your assessment lesson.
  8. My Dad said he passed his test with only 10 lessons! And he is probably a very good driver :) That said driving in the UK and especially London is very different from 10 or even 5 years ago. There are over 32 million cars on our roads now and the DSA driving curriculum has changed introducing the hazard perception test to add to the standard practical and new theory test. All this means it's a more challenging environment to learn in and there is more involved in gaining a UK driving Licence.
  9. Do LDA do Automatic Driving Courses? Not yet but we are planning to start offering automatic driving lessons in 2007 - contact us for an update
  10. What are your Pass Rates? They are Incredible! Some people assume because our driving courses are intensive that our pass results will suffer - far from it. We want to make every learner better, safer drivers for life and we've got the pass rates to prove it! (See Stats)
